The Minister Jason Kenney will announce the grant – Tuesday January 13- at 2 PM at St. Demetrius Church, 123 LaRose Avenue (in the church Hall), Toronto. Both Bishops will be present for a “moleben”, and then the announcement will be made by Minister Jason Kenney. The Government will be issuing a press release on this on Tuesday, and we will issue a joint release as well.
If you are in the area, please come join and support this valuable cause!
A joint grant with the Canada Ukraine Foundation, the UCC, UCRDC and HREC for the Holodomor National Awareness Tour in the amount of $1,459,700.00 was approved by the Ministry of Multiculturalism (see attached letter) , The grant is a 3 year grant for all of the “soft costs” associated with the project, (which includes the development of teaching and video materials and modules for the project). The Holodomor project, as you will remember, will create a National Awareness Tour, through a mobile tolerance educational centre to educate tens of thousands of students, community leaders, participants and professionals on awareness of the Holodomor Genocide through multiple activations at schools, community centres, and community events thru a 42’ wheelchair accessible RV with visual/audio, and state-of-the-art interactive technology.
The project is being done with CUF and 3 other partners: UCC National (who will assist with the outreach and programming of the bus), UCRDC (who will be assist in providing their research materials and documentary materials and films on the Holodomor); and HREC (who will be responsible for developing school curriculum on Holodomor, already under way). We will now move to secure funding for the bus itself from provincial govt (Ontario and Alberta) and private sector donors.
The Minister wants to announce the grant tomorrow (Tuesday January 13) in Toronto — at 2 PM at St. Demetrius Church, 123 LaRose Avenue (in the church Hall) on the eve of the Julian New Year. Both Bishops will be present for a “moleben”, and then the announcement will be made by Minister Jason Kenney. The Government will be issuing a press release on this on Tuesday, and we will issue a joint release as well.
We should be present tomorrow in force, and I would ask all Board members who live in Toronto to make a serious effort to be there. Thank you.
We hope to see you there.
