1. Russian Invasion of Ukraine

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (RNBO) reported at 1:30 PM Kyiv time that Ukrainian servicemen had spotted 5 UAVs along the frontline. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a terrorist of the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic” in Dnipropetrovsk on charges of gathering intelligence on Ukrainian Forces positions and another of the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic” terrorist was detained in Mykolaiv for attempting to smuggle arms from terrorist-held territory into Ukraine. Another 6 terrorists were detained in Kharkiv. The RNBO reported that there were no casualties and 1 Ukrainian armed forces soldier was wounded in the last 24 hours.

2. US Instructors Give Ukraine’s National Guard Firing Drills

On 24 April, US forces are continuing their training of Ukraine’s National Guard, giving Ukrainian servicemen firing drills. The Pentagon refuted allegations by the Kremlin US troops were training Ukrainian forces not only in western Ukraine “but directly in the combat zone in the area of Mariupol, Severodonetsk, Artyomivsk and Volnovakha”. Approximately 300 US Army paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade are taking part in the training for members of the Ukrainian national guard, at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center in the city of Yavoriv, near the Polish border.

3. OSCE mission reports seeing heavy weaponry in east Ukraine in breach of Minsk accords

Observers from the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) registered movement of heavy weaponry across the military-operation zone in eastern Ukraine from where it was supposed to have been removed under the Minsk agreements and fire of these weapons towards Shyrokine from areas held by Kremlin-backed terrorists.
